I'm on that family visit visa for 2 month right now and want to change to marriage visa. The lady from immigration told me I can only change to marriage visa with a non immigrant o visa (German passport holder). Is that right? And if I can't change it yet, do I have the option for the boarder run through the landway or I have to fly out internationally for an other 30 day tourist visa? Thanks in advance yall π«Άπ½ππ½

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about changing from a family visit visa to a marriage visa in Thailand, after being advised that they can only do so with a Non-O visa. They are also unsure if they must fly out internationally to obtain a new tourist visa or if a land border run is sufficient. Comments provide insights into the visa application process, emphasizing the need for enough time left on their visa for the application and confirming that both airplane and land border options are available for exiting Thailand.

You can leave by plane or land border bounce, suggest you use a border bounce company to ensure you have no issues getting back in on visa exempt entry.
ok thanks. No I drive myself. I did it before already. Just needed to know if the boarder run work or I need to fly out...

I think your problem is you don't have enough time left on your current stamp to apply for an in country Non-O visa. Generally you need 15 days but in Chang Mai I believe you need 21 days. There is no extension available to you so you need to leave Thailand stamp in and out of another country and re-enter Thailand. Then go back to immigration and apply for the Non-O visa
it depends on whether you have done border runs previously this year. You are only allowed two by land per annum. But Mae Sai is in Myanmar so I don't think you can use it currently
Yes Chiang Mai immigration needs at least 21 days left on your visa or extension to apply for a non-O visa at their office. They're also strict about having a TM30 filed.
Mae Sai is closed to foreigners, you'll need to go to Chiang Saen or Chiang Khong and bounce into Laos. Have you done any visa exempt entries by land this year already?
