Can a professional musician qualify for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand while primarily earning from international tours?

This is maybe a stretch, but I wonder if this is an option. Maybe the group can advise?

I’m a professional musician, performing several international tours per year (never in Thailand). This is my sole income, and my tax is paid in the UK (British citizen).

The time between tours is creative time.

This is time that I would like to spend in Thailand, and thus travel to work occasionally for a tour.

Could I be regarded as a ‘remote worker’, given that the time in Thailand is spent creatively, though the resulting income is made overseas?

Basically, I was wondering, if these professional criteria fulfill the requirements in obtaining a DTV in that regard.

It doesn’t seem entirely obvious to me.

Apologies for making an anonymous post btw.

I know it’s annoying to some, but hey-ho

Thanks 🙏🏻

TLDR : Answer Summary
A British professional musician seeks advice on whether they can qualify for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) to spend creative time in Thailand while earning income exclusively from international tours outside the country. The conversation explores whether their situation aligns with the criteria for remote work in Thailand, considering they pay taxes in the UK and whether establishing a UK limited company might aid their application.

If it’s a legit self employed business and you pay tax then I can’t imagine it would be too different to say a freelance web designer or similar. Would need to show work contracts, registered company, tax proofs etc.

… Thanks

I pay tax as a sole trader. In a sense a freelancer, who invoices a booker.

Anonymous participant Then you might be able to apply in a similar way that I did as a remote worker via Ltd company. I had to provide a letter from an accountant, registered company details, contract of work, invoices etc

Do you have or could you set up a UK limited company with you as owner and Director. That should work and others have done similar. I know guys with building business in UK now. They have limited company and wrote as Director to themselves as employee approving remote work in Thailand. The remote work was approving payroll and estimates etc

Hmmm, it’s possible, though not my current arrangement.

Anonymous participant UK Embassy has been approving as I described above. Not heard anything about "Sole Trader" in UK but similar type set ups approved in mainland Europe. Good luck.
