Any chance to get a SETV in Oz?

I would like to apply, as a non-resident (with EU passport), for a Thailand SETV visa in Australia. (Thailand visa history: 4 back-to-back SETVs and 1 visa exemption). How likely is it in my situation to be granted a SETV in Australia?

you won't have a problem at all getting a single entry tourist visa and if you can meet the financial requirements (and use a thai consulate that issues them) you can get a 6 month METV too from there even though you're not Aussie. Many westerners have gone there for METV's.

Thanks, so which ones are most likely to issue me a METV: Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, or Hobart? (Perth is a little out of the way.)

The one in Perth allows the 6 month METV to be issued to non-residents of Australia..

Should be no problem. You can probably even get a METV there, they give them to non-residents.

yes mate, im not certain but i think the delivery time on certified/express post is the same all over Aus.

But of course it depends on how long it takes the consulate to process it and

send it back.

in my experience they are quick and will proccess and send back to you overnight.

i posted mine on a thursday, got it back the following wednesday.

no need to go to Hobart in person. with certified mail the turnover is usually 4 business days

Ferry only between Melbourne and Devonport, and it would cost as much as flights to Hobart anyway 🙂

Good idea, as I booked a flight to Melbourne. Any advice on how to get there besides flying? Isn't there a ferry between Melbourne and Hobart?

yeah I was the same, I stressed about the handwriting and whether immigration on arrival would question it - but I guess it’s still common enough for them not to be worried.

, i use them also. i thought the old guys handwriting on the visa would raise eyebrows but never had a problem.

I went to the the house at Invercargill once..felt a bit wierd about it, but maybe thats the way to go, save $20 on the certified mail and no stressing over waiting for it to turn up in the mailbox!

I use Hobart in Tasmania, it’s an older guy who processes it on the spot, at his home - you get you passport back in about 15 minutes after applying with the visa 🙂
