As someone else on this page told me

First application for retirement visa

800,000B in bank account for 2 months prior to application

Upon successful application 800,000B minimum for 3 months

Beyond that balance is allowed to drop to a minimum of 400,000B until 2 months prior to renewal where it needs to then be increased and maintained back at 800,000B and then repeat each year

thanks James. I haven't lived in Thailand for almost 7 years but it looks as though nothing has changed and all he need do is follow in my footsteps

agree mate. When I married my wife we had the party but then registered the marriage at the Amphor. I was on a tourist visa at the time. I returned home and then applied for an O visa, sold up and moved to Thailand. His intention is to bring his wife back to Australia so the only time he should be applying for an O visa is if they want to return to Thailand on a 90 day or 12 month stay

@James *******
exactly. Somehow he wants a visa based on a marriage that hasn't yet taken place.

he is returning to Australia as my post says so no need to convert to O visa with bank balances for a 12 month stay. I am trying to convince him that 60 day + 30 day extension is like you say the easiest but he's stuck on a visa that "includes marriage and 90 days" in wording. Doing my head in to be honest
