Hey there ! My partner and I are moving to Thailand from the US. It’s looking like the move might be end of summer 2025. I’ve been looking into visas trying to figure out which one would be best for us and could use some direction. I’m seeing work visas and 90 day visas that would require extentions and make me hesitant to sign a year lease. We plan on spending 1-2 years there split between Chiang Mai and Phuket. We will continue with our current US based jobs and work remotely in Thailand. Curious about which visa would be the best option and how far out we should start preparing our visas. Any info helps! Thanks in advance 🫶🏻
Hello Everyone! First time posting in the group. Does anybody happen to have any experience or knowledge with the spousal visa CR1 in a foreign country? I’m American and my wife is Filipina We live in Thailand, as I have my retirement visa and she’s a dependent under my retirement visa and Thailand is our home. I tried googling and getting a hold of both embassies in Thailand, and in Philippines, and not getting any definite, clear answers. Does anybody have any knowledge or personal experience in a situation like this? to me, it makes sense to process the visa in Bangkok at the US Embassy since that is our residence but yet she is a Filipina, so not sure if it needs to be done in the Philippines, which that would make no sense to keep going back-and-forth
Just when I think that I’ve sussed the rules, I’m stumped again.
I am back in the UK for a short time and want to apply for the 3 month non-O visa so that I can extend to the 1 year retirement visa when I’m back in Thailand.
However, looking at the web site it appears that I have to be married to a Thai to get this!
I already have a Condo and Thai bank account, what more do I have to do?
I’ve just been to the thai consulate here in perth to apply for a marriage visa multi entry I had all paperwork and was asked for marriage cert which I gave them then they ask for a marriage registration paper also which I did not have so I rang my wife and she is of the understanding that there is no shush thing we got married in boing prue would they have this on record and if so would it be easy to get a copy
Tod, wanted to thank you for your help and guidance over the last few years. After 7 years of retirement and employment (teaching) we will be heading back to the USA in a few weeks. It’s been a great experience but time to move on. Thanks again.
