Hello, dear group members, May l please ask a stupid question? It might be really stupid. I am currently studying bachelor program in an university in Thailand. I am on student visa right now. Unfortunately, because of financial problem and some other personal problems, I think I would leave Thailand and go to another country to finish my undergraduate study. And if it is possible, after I get my bachelor degree in another country(this might happen after 4 years),I would like to come back Thailand to pursue the master degree study in an university in Thailand. What I am worrying is whether I can successfully get the student visa after 4 years. Would my current student visa be a obstacle for getting a new student visa after 4 years? I would not get a new passport. Does anyone have knowledge related to this situation? Thank you so much.

make sure you CANCEL your current extension of stay at the immigration office with the discontinuation of studying paperwork from your uni BEFORE you leave the country.

Realize that just stamping out of the country will NOT officially cancel your extension of stay.

If you do that you're fine.

You say that an extension of stay will not "officially" be cancelled if leaving, obviously without a re entry permit. Yet, the same extension cannot be used when re entering Thailand. We hear many examples of those who unknowingly leave Thailand without a re entry permit and have to come back on a visa exempt and start the whole NonB/NonO/NonEd process again. We are told that computer systems are linked now between border/airport entries and immigration. How would it work that an extension is not "officially" cancelled but in reality it has been as can't be used again. I am not doubting what you say. I'm just intrigued as to the process.

Not sure I'd invest in a bachelor's or master degree in Thailand. Great if you stay in Thailand but across a variety of countries I think they do not hold the same value as others. I stand to be corrected. Thailand is so saturated with graduates that it's become almost meaningless.

I don't see any reason why not. I haven't heard any crackdowns on ED visas for people who are in degree seeking programs, and I haven't heard of any rejections either.

However, we don't know what the future holds.

Four years from now needs a crystal ball.

If you are accepted at a Thai University to study for a Masters Degree, you might be able with their assistance to get an Ed Visa.
