I am thinking about doing Savannakhét for my 1 yr visa based on marriage, if I do this and come back into Thailand via a land boarder, do I get 90 days stamped?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When obtaining a Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on marriage at Savannakhét, you can expect to receive a 90-day entry stamp upon re-entering Thailand, regardless of whether your visa is a year-long multiple entry or a 90-day single entry that is extended within the country.

and I think we're done. The O/P now knows that the consulate is busy some days and they get 90 days on an O visa when they stamp in.

Okay, IF you go to Savannakhet to get a Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on marriage to a thai it doesn't matter IF you get a year-long multi-entry OR a 90 day single entry (and extend it inside the country)
Non-O visas get you stamped in for 90 days..

If you can book a month ahead I would suggest you go to Vientiane Laos, Savannakhet is becoming a bit painful in terms of wait times.

Most of the vans leave Bangkok/Pattaya on Sunday night and on Wednesday night
Meaning they are there on Monday morning and Thursday morning.
It's NOT unmanageable even when it's crowded, they run the people thru pretty fast.
: really! :O thanks for the update. I must be thinking about something else

Tod Daniels. Difficult to say Van's seem to go mainly on Monday & Wednesday, but both services have people collecting the VISAs the next day. So this really only leaves Friday as potential low traffic day right?
the office in Savannakhet is ONLY busy IF you go there on the same days that the visa run companies from Bangkok and Pattaya show up. Other days you might have 30 people at the MOST there ;)
. Yes understand, I just went there 2 weeks ago for ED VISA application with a VISA Van service. The package was 3500baht from BKK including good quality hotel stay.
yeah this is my only reservation to doing this, but it would end up costing considerably less than flying to Vietnam for the same visa as Savannakhet

James Bailey.. Ah OK.
As advice be prepared & arrive about 1.5 hours before they open to get near front of the line. If you miss this can easily turn into 4hrs standing in the sun in a que out front.
correct this is why Savannakhet is my choice. Just thinking outloud about driving to the boarder myself and crossing with my vehicle, I hate the tour vans.
