TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a 30-day extension of their tourist visa, which expires on April 6, and seeks an additional 5 days to match their flight back on April 11. Responses suggest that they will likely need to apply for the COVID extension, as immigration might not grant the short additional time upon request. The COVID extension incurs a fee and can lead to an 'Under Consideration' status, which may complicate their departure plans.
Hi my 30 day extension goes to April 23, my flight home is May 6.....so I plan to go this week to get the covid extension. Please tell me they won't give "under consideration" and then have to come back in 10 days? Surely they can just issue the extension on the same day?
I don't recall any report saying that Bangkok issued a covid extension on spot without the under-consideration stamp. Could be up to two weeks.

Or you apply for extension for any reason as late as possible with your current stamp, then it wouldn't be approved and you will get 7days to leave stamp. Same fee.
(for this timing and there will be possibility any circumstance change, Covid extension would be better choice though)
No. He has to go back to the immigration office before he leaves Thailand. Even if it is before the under consideration date and inform them that he is leaving. In any case that's what I did!
Only time you don't have to close the "under-consideration" stamp of covid extension is when you leave Thailand before that date. OP wouldn't have problem. If I understand right.
