Krunsgri + Lloyd’s in UK. 

If I manage to borrow money from back home would rather not send it ….to my Thai account and back

Could lose nearly 10,000 in fees + conversion I think

You must move it all into one account. The account has to have been open 6 months, but the last balance statement must show 500,000 baht. Can't use multiple accounts.

The 500K is to show you have enough money to live in Thailand, it is not meant to show you are able to borrow money...

yeah, this is kind of the annoying part of the requirement. My funds are tied up in index funds rather than sitting around in my bank account. If I need to access them, I can.

I think even when having your money in index funds, you should also keep a percentage in cash, experts say 5 till 20 percent.

There are always situations possible you prefer not to exchange to cash because of a temporary low index.

So I understand why visa requirement is cash.

idc- I have enough money to live in Thailand comfortably anyway, steady stream of 60k baht a month.

Just a few months away from getting 500k but want it asap

When both accounts with the money are in your name, I think it is not a problem.

There is no need to have it in a Thai bank account, I think it might be even better when not in a Thai bank account, because when in a Thai bank account they might be suspicious you have Thai income.

Not really. You can simply show the funds came in from abroad.
