My friends are looking to do a border bounce at the Myanmar border. They have seen conflicting reports about whether they will be given a 15 or 30 day extension when they bounce back in. Can anyone confirm? They are Canadian passport holders

TLDR : Answer Summary
Canadian passport holders will receive a 30-day entry stamp when re-entering Thailand after a border bounce at the Myanmar border. The confusion regarding a 15-day entry stamp is outdated, as since January 1, 2017, travelers entering by land are granted a 30-day visa-exempt entry, with a maximum of two entries of this type per year.
many places on the inter-web still state that people get 15 days when entering by land. They do not..
That 15 days by land ended on Dec 31st 2016 ๐ฎ
Jan 1, 2017 it went back to 30 days with a limit of TWO visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year

A border bounce (leave then re-enter Thailand with visa-exempt stamp) gets another 30 days. It's not a visa nor is it an extension. But they do have the option to get a 30-day extension by going to Thai immigration and paying 1900 baht. Wondering where they saw these "conflicting reports".
I tried to use the right terminology but sometimes people make mistakes. They already had a visa extension in-country which is why they are doing a border bounce.
Yes I remember that was a long time ago, but as you say there is still a lot of outdated info out there.

Canadians will enter Thailand on a visa-exempt (without a proper visa) for 30 days.
The number of days on 'free' entry stamp varies depending on nationalities, not the type of borders.
