Hi, the consulate is now telling me I need a round trip ticket and not accepting an onward flight or bus ticket. Anyone experiencing this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the recent requirement by a Thai consulate for travelers to present a round trip ticket when applying for a visa. Some commenters confirm that the Los Angeles consulate specifies this requirement. Others mention that different embassies may have varying rules and suggest purchasing a nominal onward ticket as a workaround. The importance of staying updated with current requirements when applying for a visa is also highlighted.
You need to meet the requirements when you apply for your visa, not the requirements you met last time. The embassies/consulates are updating requirements, as well as immigration offices do.

Every embassy/consulate gets to make their own rules. Google onward travel ticket. You can buy a ticket back to where you came from to show them for about $10.
"2.4 Proof of a round trip flight confirmation/reservation showing going from the US to Thailand and leaving from Thailand (The name of the applicant must be indicated clearly)" that is from the DC website

If you are using the LA consulate it clearly states that you need a round trip ticket
