TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on the best locations to apply for a Thai DTV visa, with users sharing personal experiences and tips. Several comments highlight the reliability of various embassies, noting both successes and challenges. There is mention of the shift towards E-visa applications in certain locations like Taipei, and advice is given to apply in one's country of residence for convenience.
Since most Embassies now are e-visa, the best place is to get it in your country of residence where most documents also will be originating from, so apoly and wait for the answer in the comfort of your home, instead of sitting 1,2,3 weeks in a hotelroom in a 3 country just waiting for the visa to be granted or rejected

I just went to the Thai embassy website in Los Angeles, California and from there they give you an option of what type of visa you were looking for.
not yet, I was just there today. They transition on 1 Jan 2025. If you mean maybe because they will be closed for holidays, you may be correct although I am not sure of their holiday schedule. So anyone reading getting in to Taipei today or tomorrow you may still have a chance, just check holiday schedule. Taipei is now a 2-day turnaround for walk ins.
honestly I don’t think so. I don’t think they all embassies in Paris meet on the Friday night to share their weekly experience. I think it’s just a coincidence. However I know you are right when you say the Thai embassy in France is long. But you are wrong when you draw the conclusion « like all French »
seriously, your wrong, they live, work, have friends in France, over time act French. I've had a house there for 15 years, it's fact, notorious for bureaucracy the world over, its a French word and they are masters at being so. What other explanation could you possibly give. 🤔
what did they want to know exactly? Was planning to go for soft power muay thai and having only having 500k in my account from a transfer few days prior... Wondering if that'll be a problem.
They are ok with the 500K being there for a few days or even the same day of application. Make sure you have contract of employment and bank statements showing your salary you will be ok for soft power along with the other stuff
Soft Power in Taipei is not straightforward anymore. They require an employment contract and statements with salary deposits. A couple of people had probs with that at Taipei as it is not in the requirements for soft power and they never had a contract when applying. I applied for the workcation option, and they wanted to see 6 months of salary deposits on statements. Would not accept new contracts with no salary deposits.
He's retiring from the US army but they asked for proof of ongoing work contract... but he's leaving the army. Anyway he managed to swing it but they gave him a run around
They gave him the runaround big time, very long "grilling" I thought. Your client was there the same time as me. I had an interview after him but just a few mins.
oh hey Andi!! Yes, they grilled me but it was actually the Taiwanese worker checking my documents more than the Thai diplomat conducting my interview. I am actually glad she held the interview with me because it gave me a chance to explain my situation better to someone who understood English well.
I was surprised by how long you were spoken to; it was like an hour. I was thinking i was going to face an hour but that would have taken it beyond the office hours. Luckily it was just a few mins to explain my work and awareness of not working in Thailand outside of online work specified in the DTV.
They had me in the office for around an hour but she only really asked me questions for about 15 mins. She ended up having to take a phone call right as I introduced myself so for the next 45 mins I was just sitting there, nervously thinking I did something wrong or they were going to ask me for more documents or something hahaha
