What should I do if my visa application is rejected due to name errors in Thailand?

Wow, just got rejected by Los Angeles. All they said was,

"Your visa application has been rejected. Please reapply visa, the name on the application is incorrect. Please fill in the name/middle name/surname/suffix or “-“ or spacing, no more no less, exactly as it appears on the travel document /passport."

I went back in and submitted a new application, this time trying to understand what could have gone wrong. At the final step before submitting, it looks like the system randomly deleted my middle name. I went back to the beginning and filled everything in again. At the final step, my middle name was there. I guess that's it. The first time, I guess I thought maybe it was blank there for a reason, because of course I filled in my middle name.

The lesson is to expect glitches and carefully review the boxes before submitting. That's a great way for them to get extra money on more applications.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user recounted their experience of having their visa application rejected by the Los Angeles embassy due to an error with their name. They discovered that the online application system had omitted their middle name when they tried to submit, leading to the rejection. The comments revealed that this issue is not isolated, with others experiencing similar glitches such as incorrect birth dates. Participants discussed frustrations with the application process, potential refund eligibility for application fees, and the unreliability of the system, stressing the importance of carefully reviewing all entries before submission.

The only way they should reject an application for an error like this is a physical / paper application. That way there is dead nuts proof you actually made the mistake. Anything can happen on a digital application. I could easily be no fault of your own.

Ahhh, u got done with the ol’ machine changes your details ‘glitch’
Paul ****
Did you auto fill the fields from your browser or typed by hand?

. Pretty sure it was by hand. The second time I did it, I noticed that the background on two name boxes was dark and the background on one of them was lighter. After refreshing and checking it a few times, finally all the backgrounds to the name boxes were darker. That seems to be some kind of mysterious detail to pay attention to.

It could be a browser issue. There once was a time when Thai websites only functioned well with Internet Explorer.

Such a scam🥲🥲

Try with Thai DOB

Did you have to pay the fee again to make changes?

@Grecia **********
. Yep, only option is to redo the whole thing.
Christopher ********
It kept changing my date of birth. So I took a screenshot of that and explained that the visa should not be rejected due to the error with the website as I have demonstrated there is a technical issue.

The visa was approved without asking for additional documentation

any government website in Thailand is yes not working correctly......

@Christopher *******
wow this also happened to me and I just accepted my fate and applied again lol

@Marb *******
I knew they would deny it if it was wrong but, in order to get a refund from my credit card if they denied me I included it. The website should work properly.

@Christopher *******
yep, tbh wouldn’t surprise me at all if it’s done purposefully. So many people constantly posting the same issues yet they do nothing about it. Free money from everyone having to reapply
Daniel ****
Sorry to hear this. Were you on pending approval?

@Daniel ***
. Yes, was after 3 week wait.

@Joe **********
oh man. So pending document check for 3 weeks? Or pending approval for 3 weeks? If it’s the latter I’m in the same boat.
Paul *********
I find that a lot if Thai websites fail this doesn’t surprise me
Christopher ***********
Thanks for your information. You most certainly shouldn’t have had to pay for a fresh application in the circumstances. Have you (or will you) try to obtain refund for your first application?
Anna *********
@Christopher **********
seriously 🤣Your responsibility to check the details are correct Glitches have always been there and have been mentioned thousands of times
Anna *********
Anyone who has done any research on this visa would know that the form

Is glitchy and that you will

need to pay for another application if the first is rejected

@Anna ********
Yes, seriously. As another poster mentioned, revisiting a previous page caused change. No reasonable person would anticipate data changing if they hadn’t amended anything.

@Christopher **********
- unfortunately, this is something that has been talked about multiple times on this page. One will not get a refund.
Stuart *********
@Christopher **********
That’s not going to happen. Before they all went online some embassies would only take the fee if everything was correct at application time.

Now they’re all on the evisa system there are no refunds. The onus is on you to ensure everything is 100% correct - even if there are glitches in the system. Sucks for sure. But that’s how it is.

My friend was just applying and whenever he returned to the page where you put your DOB, it would change it by one day. He corrected it and when he went back, it changed it again. As long as he didn’t navigate to that page again after fixing it, it would show up correctly in the main application page. So there are definitely some glitches and it isn’t just reading passport data incorrectly.

@Dustin *********
Thanks for this. The information could assist Joe?
Wannikea *********
The machine reading of the passport data page document scan is unreliable and manual input is needed to correct the errors, as well as a visual inspection of the retained data to ensure that it was read properly.

@Wannikea ********
yes. I got denied first because it removed 1 letter from my last name, after i corrected it, because i saved and continued later. I think it reread the biodata after i continued the application

@Wannikea ********
wise advice ✅

@Wannikea ********
Thanks. Further confirmation that nobody should have their application rejected for website software failures.

@Christopher **********
its a joke they cannot make corrections

I agree that they should at least put a warning up to double check the uploaded data as it's sometimes unreliable.
