What is the status of someone who hasn't acted on their visa amnesty since arriving in Thailand on March 7?

They have been totally covered on the amnesty decree and the extensions of them since it was first announced. All they need to find out is IF their immigration office will let them apply for their "regular" 30 day extension (the one they could have gotten from entering on a 30 day visa exempt entry) OR if they will have to apply for the new 60 day extension that was announced.

Wow, and they did NOTHING since they showed up here more than SEVEN MONTHS ago? Talk about being lucky and having things work out for them..

IF they never got their 30 day 'regular' extension they could go to the immigration office in the area where they live and ask about it although not all offices offer it. OR they can also ask about the upcoming 60 day extension (the one that supposedly doesn't need the embassy letter).

Other than that, as people said, they're good until Oct 31st, so I'd suggest they check with their immigration office sooner rather than later. ;)

He is fine under amnesty until 31st October.

If he wants to prolong it until 30 Nov (30 Dec in changmai/huahin) he needs to provide embassy letter or reason to stay. So far that's the deal, might change cuz it's Thailand.

What was the friends permission to stay date...having arrived March 7 ?

The first amnesty date was from March 26.
