TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying to extend a retirement visa in Thailand, there is no minimum validity requirement for your passport. You can apply for the extension with a current and valid passport, regardless of its length of validity. The extension will be granted for a maximum of one year, or until the passport expiration date, whichever comes first.

There is no "minimum validity" rule when you apply for an extension. You can apply for an extension with a current and valid passport regardless of length of validity. You will get an extension until the earlier date of one year or passport validity. If your passport is expiring in less than one year, you will get an extension only until that day.
