What is the process for extending a single-entry NON-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national in Chiang Mai?

Timing question- Am I understanding the following correctly? Planning to stay in Thailand for longer periods of time, Belgian, married to thai national, will be staying in Chiang Mai:

For example, arrive in Thailand on 20/11/2022 with a single entry non-O based on marriage to a Thai national, I should get stamped in for 90 days. So until 17/02/23

In Chiang Mai I can apply for an extention based on marriage to a Thai national 45 days before the current stamp runs out, so that should be from 03/01/2023.

So if I go to immigration in Chiang Mai on 03/01/23, I first get a under consideration stamp for 30 days? Starting what date will the actual extention be in the passport (assuming everything goes as planned). 17/02/23?

What I actually want to know is when will I be able to travel outside Thailand (using a re-entry permit) is it correct that this needs to be after 17/02, when the "under consideration" period has passed and the actual extension is in the passport?

Ok, Thanks for the explanation! So leaving Thailand for a few days beginning of februari shouldn't be a problem with a single re-entry on the under consideration stamp.

Last question, The under consideration stamp in Chiang Mai, is it also valid for 30 days, even if you apply for the extension 45 days before the current stamp off the non-o expires? For example, I apply for the extension on

Ofcourse I will not plan everything till the day, and give myself some room. Just trying to understand how it works.

I believe you are getting the cart WAY before the horse.

There's no way I'd plan travel until AFTER I got the under consideration stamp.

Just so you know Bangkok only gives 3 weeks now and then you go back to get the year marriage extension inked in 😮 Happened to two different people I know.

So I'd wait until you actually get that stamp to plan out what you're doing,

here's a 21 day U/C on a marriage extension on top and then the year extension under it

another thing you MIGHT do is take the proof you're leaving on that trip on xxx date with you and see if they can't give you a longer under consideration stamp. I had someone going to be out of the country when the 30 day u/c stamp came up and he took his flight info with him and the officer gave him a 2 month u/c stamp so he could get back from his trip without losing the application. He got a re-entry permit and came back in with time to spare before his lengthened u/c stamp came up

you can get a re-entry permit on an under consideration stamp but it is valid ONLY for that stamp and you'd have to be back to thailand before it ran out so you could go get your year extension.

Once you show up and get the yearly extension inked in you would buy a single (1000baht) or multiple (3800bant) re-entry permit and it will be good for the yearly extension
