I'm curious about the extension process after 180 days. Do I need to show a bank statement of 500000 baht again, or is it just a matter of paying the visa fees to get the extension?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The extension process for a DTV visa after 180 days remains uncertain as the visa is relatively new. Some users speculate that documentation requirements, like providing bank statements, might still be necessary, while others suggest it may vary by immigration office. It's recommended to verify with your embassy or consider leaving and reentering Thailand to simplify the process. Concerns about the current rules and potential changes in documentation requirements are also discussed.
December 15th would guess is the earliest you can do, but Jan 15th 2025 we may start to see the answer, but also understand that you may get different answers from different Immigration offices. 😉

Yes when you extend with local immigration and ton of documents and also tax payment as well because you stay longer than 180 days in Thailand , so the best way just traveling one time per year.

Ask your embassy, I asked this very question and they said I would need to provide documents again which wouldn't surprise me and why I asked.
Seems less hassle to just leave and re enter especially as situations could change.
this is just basic understanding about how immigration works. Embassies work for ministry of foreign affairs and provide visas. They have absolutely nothing to do with immigration administration inside Thailand. So asking that to an embassy they will provide generic answer same as google.
I didn’t say,it will happen…I only said I hope for it…people borrowing money as proof,or booking dental plans, cooking or gym courses…it’s often a bit weird to me.And yeah, maybe that all could change …maybe not.
