Just a proposal at this point, but it was submitted to the cabinet on the 22nd, still not approved. If it happened it would be great for a lot of people.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A proposal for automatic visa extensions in Thailand was submitted but remains unapproved. Discussions reflect a desire for logical measures that assist tourists and expats in light of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Several comments express frustration over the lengthy processes, the need for automatic reprieves for expiring visas, and the importance of supporting the tourism sector to maintain Thailand's reputation.
Yeah well american embassy is booked with appointments for next 4 months. S.o.l

Should be automatic extension of 90 days on all TR visas. That way I would benefit also. Some of use went to great lengths to avoid that mess.

There should just be an automatic reprieve for any stamp that finishes now or in the future until this virus is done. Then that way no one needs to report anywhere in person and you don't need anyone to manage it as of right now. Just a simple case of checking the stamp was March and onwards when someone either exits or extends.
After all no one can come in anymore anyway so the principles and politics of their immigration system wont be effected.

This is the smart move, but I doubt they'll figure that out.

Let's hope it gets past the point of proposal in a simple to execute fashion...but not holding my breath.

A lot of expats will oppose this . There have been many expats who have been ordering people to leave the county on various other visa forums 🤦🏻♂️ tourism does a lot for this country and the authorities need to do something to help these people as it could damage Thailand’s reputation in the future.
why oppose it? Expats live here. This is a once per 100 years disaster. Most tourists would never get this waiver otherwise. Expats should be business as usual.

22nd...and still no word. Methinks they are waiting to collect millions of baht more in app fees this week before they announce anything. I don't mind that, as long as they waive everything for at least a few months.

Also, collecting millions of baht? Is there that many people traveling right now? Likely not...
