Want to share something positive about immigration for a change. Got my covid extension today in Chiang Mai at the satellite office at the Promenada Mall in under 30 minutes. Ok, they still issue the annoying “under consideration”. But a much smoother experience than at the main branch at the airport. Nice staff, too. Thank you

Same for us, smooth and easy & very friendly at Promenada! The 15 "under consideration" days were counted on top of the remaining current Visa days so that was definitely a positive surprise and I assume the remaining 45 days will be added after that 15 days report then as well.

Curious. What do you mean? Your under consideration stamp is not 15 days from today (so February 8 ) but at a later date?

yes exactly. As our current extension did not run out yet we were not even sure if we can try today but all went well and the 15 days were added counting from the actual end date as per current stamp.

oh really?! that is interesting - and yes what I originally expected as well but we thought better risk a few days than running out of the visa in case there are no more extensions (which I doubt but you never know)...

Not full service. Them doing visa extensions seems to be an irregular, temporary thing now to mitigate the high demand in the main office.

Did you ask if they'll add the new 60 days onto your current expiration date? As opposed to 60 added on to application date. This morning I saw one report from promenada: adding 60 to application date.

Cannot say for sure, as they give a 15 day under consideration stamp first. But here is the basic rule: If it is your first covid extension, they will start the 60 days at the day of application (so you will lose days when going early). Subsequent covid extensions will be added at the end date of the former one then. Not makes sense. It is what it is. And some immigration offices do things their inconsistent way. We just have to endure that.
