What documents are required for DTV visa re-entry into Thailand, and should I be prepared for additional requirements?

It seems that the DTV extension, according to some reports, requires more documentation than the initial application, including rental agreements, income proof, reports on past and future work, screenshots of work etc.

For those who have re-entered Thailand to obtain a new 180-day stamp, did you have to provide any additional documents? If so, what was required? I will be leaving Thailand for a few month and want to be prepared.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa extension may require additional documentation beyond the initial application, such as rental agreements, proof of income, and work reports. Experiences with re-entering Thailand vary; while many people reported no questions or additional documents needed, others suggested being prepared with proof of funds and relevant documents, especially for those involved in soft power activities. Future changes may introduce new requirements, including potential tax ID requests for those staying over 180 days.

Wait for next year when they start asking for Tax IDs if you have over 180 days and refuse for not complying with tax law haha

I’m only half joking as I can actually see this happening. The reality is many people don’t understand that there are ways to do things to minimise the risk to refusal and as they want people here spending money long term attached with the tax revenue it may bring is part of this visa. So don’t be surprised if it starts being part of the requested stuff on extension and reentry

I entered without any issues. Officer asked, "how long are you staying?", I replied "180 days per the DTV visa rules". She nodded and stamped, no other questions.

Does anyone know someone who has been successful with a border run for a DTV reset?

I’ve been in and out. The looked the DTV, stamped my passport and waved me on.

People are mixing up Extension with leaving and re entering.

It would appear that if on soft power they might and have asked questions, quite rightfully so.

I would carry proof of funds when re entering as they seem keen on this and of course your visa pdf printed.

According to what? Please post them bc this is getting tired

this is for extensions. Which this visa isn’t for. That why they want allll that info so you’ll just fly in and out like your supposed to.

It is a 5 year VISIT visa not to live in Thailand for 5 years straight

then you have no clue about the dynamics at play in Thailand boy. This visa was pushed and promoted by MFA. MFA issued your visa but a totally different entity called Immigration (which is a branch of Royal Thai police) granted you access in Thailand and is responsible for extension of your visa. When you see that Immigration requires more documents for extension than for the initial application, even a donkey can understand that immigration is not very happy with this visa. Thorough checks at the border or even total revamping of this visa might be just around the corner … it won’t be the first time …

If on soft power they will look you up and down. Learning to cook = overweight. Muay Thai = lean. Dental = swollen mouth. If you don't match they will question you further.

loo lots of overweight MT practitioners

@Andrew ******
Yup. They will be informed to train harder or switch to learn cooking.

I flew back into Suvarnabhumi last Sunday. No questions, no documents, just stamp and go

Verbally providing proof, by telling the officer what you're doing should almost certainly be sufficient.

Most people didn’t need it, but I’ve seen a case where a work contract was requested. If you want to be prepared, plan for the worst-case scenario—no one knows what rules might arise here.

its been mentioned to be prepared for questions upon arrival into Thailand. How? By carrying the proofs you submitted for the DTV Visa.

@James *******
why would I carry around an entire dossier every time I enter that’s beyond ridiculous when it’s the same docs attached to the pdf they are scanning
Anonymous ******************
@Christopher *******
Immigration is responsible for controlling its borders, while the MFA issues visas. These are two separate entities with different objectives. Some people have their documents updated when others don't.
Christopher ********
Anonymous participant 323 in very aware of that. But I don’t have a work contract nor did I submit one. I own the company. I have a company bank account. I’m not worried about it.

I did twice. Whatever people tell you, they just have got lucky. Being checked is not common but possible. And no, I didn't have a bad history with a legit registered work.

what does everyone want to be all scared about Thailand and entering an immigration and everything it’s ridiculous and I’m tired of it.

Thailand depends on tourism for a large part of its economy. It doesn’t want to turn people away. That’s why they made this visa.

I mean, I don’t mean to be rude, but for the people who are questioned and post all the stuff like what were they wearing and how did they act when they came up to immigration because that has a lot to do with it?
James ********
@Christopher *******
again I wish you well.

As a Moderator on Thai Visa Advice, I do receive the PM messages from those seeing entry into Thailand, questioned by Thai Immigration Officers and DENIED entry. And asking for advice on what to do.

Times have changed. That's why I, and others, are saying be prepared for questions. Then you will have whatever answers needed whenever questioned about the DTV visa in your passport.

Vast majority present no documentation upon reentry. I was asked once a simple what is your job? and then given questions about English Premier league, other time nothing asked.
