I flew back to UK yesterday on Etihad.

Bangkok to Abu Dhabi. A D to Heathrow. All went smoothly.

Cabin staff in full protective gear.

At check in I had to show that I’d filled in the isolation document for 14 day quarantine in UK. The people who hadn’t filled it in had to do so pre check in.

UK is just "self isolation" where you are meant to stay home. From everything I have heard, they are really not enforcing this at all strictly, there have been zero fines over people breaching it.

In Australia we have to pay for our own quarantine in hotels, depending on circumstances if you have to pay.

More chance getting cv in public in Australia, especially since Thailand has no CV.

the UK has a list of countries exempt from the quarantine requirement, due to low risk of Covid-19, but for some unclear reason Thailand is not on the list.

...And the further insanity is that the police have publicly announced that they will not enforce it giving all those lovely thoughtless uncaring people out there the green light not to bother!!!

it's time the police were defunded totaly as they are now only good for harassing motorists. There is no deterrent for hardly anything any more including abuse of children. Time for right minded people who care about the country to stand up and be counted or leave for a better place. I have to admit I have opted for the latter.

Because there is no police enforcement. And despite a £100 fine being announced the police have said they will not enforce it. There is no police enforcement because this Conservative govt. has cut police numbers and other public service workers to the bone so they simply cannot enforce it.

I back Boris Johnson to the hilt over Brexit and a number of other current issues but over covid there is no other way to describe how the whole of the uk have responded to it in any other way than incompetent. I think it is today that they start to wear masks and everybody is still arguing about who should and who shouldn't have to. It is quite pathetic. I realy feel for those who have taken it seriously and are watching their truly wonderful efforts wasted.
