TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses options for obtaining a Thai visa through soft power activities, notably cooking and Muay Thai. Participants share their thoughts on the qualifications for such activities, stressing the importance of cultural relevance. Other suggestions included medical treatments and education, with advice to ensure any course taken aligns with visa requirements. Additionally, it is noted that diving may not qualify under these provisions, and the necessity of visiting an embassy for confirmation on accepted activities was emphasized.
Soon I will be 80 years old. I'm a beginner for Muay Thai. I don't know if it is allowed to fight with the girls. I will asked "The Venum" Soi Khopai 12 (Pattaya). I will do it with very soft power.

Soft power activities or education needs to be related to Thai culture, I'm afraid a diving course has no distinct Thainess attribute.

If you haven’t done it yet, you can extend 30 days at the nearest Immigration office for 1900 baht.
"been out here nearly full 60 but want to stay longer the dtv is my only option" - just be sure you understand that you need to leave, in order to apply for the DTV. You can't do it in Thailand.
Check with the embassy if they accept the sport though. Each embassy approves differently, don't pay for a course without knowing the embassy will accept the sport.
