We are coming to Thailand in November and leaving 89 days later (with 20 days in Malaysia after 55 days)

I have looked online for multiple entry visa information and it says I need a letter from my employer but I am retired

Anyone got any ideas how I do this?

It depends on how easy it is to get the TV. If that's easy, do that. If getting the TV is a pain, then come visa exempt, and get an extension at Immigration for an additional 30 days. Buy the train ticket ahead of time to prove you're leaving within the allowed 30+30 days.

Coming visa exempt the chances are that if asked the proof of onward travel will need to be within 30 days not 60

Thank you so much. We have UK passports. We plan to come to Thailand in a retirement visa next year so are coming over to look at where we want to settle. I don't want to get it wrong now and ruin our chance

30 days visa exempt when you enter. Extend another 30 days when you’re here for 1,900 baht. Go to Malaysia. Come back in on a 30 day exempt 👍

Far better to get tourist visa as creates less problems if onward flight is 89 days later.

Also tourist Visa is cheaper and wouldn’t have to visit immigration on the plans OP has stated

yeah could get for the first 60 days instead. The multiple entry one is more complicated though

Don’t need to get multi entry on OP plans.

Tourist visa covers until leave after 55 days then just get stamped in for 30 days when come back from Malaysia

Depends what passport

you have as to the best option. If it allows you 30 days visa exempt, can come in visa exempt and extend it for another 30

days in Thailand for 1900 baht. Leave for Malaysia and return to Thailand on visa exempt entry again.

Not sure as some details are missing.

You can apply for a Single Entry Tourist Visa which gives you 60 days of stay, than go to Malaysia as planned, come back into Thailand without a visa and get 30 days Visa Exempt Entry, which can be extended once with another 30 days.

This will give you enough time in Thailand.

No problem, it is known that a stay from a tourist visa can be extended once with 30 days and if needed a booking of a train ticket to a foreign country counts as onward travel.
