My husband and I are looking at a temporary move to Thailand (1year or so as of now) we want to travel some to a couple other countries near there but I’m trying to figure it all out. We don’t qualify for METV but we’re thinking about the single entry and extending it to 90 days then popping over to another country for a couple weeks while we reapply for the visa. Is this a good way to go about it? I’ll take all the tips and advice I can get!

you can't ever renew a visa :/ and you can't get a tourist visa inside the country. :/

You come in get stamped in for 60 days, extend that by 30 days then you go to a thai consulate in a nearby country and buy another single entry tourist visa.

I know I can apply by mail but my problem with the METV is don't have the financial history they say is required on the Embassy web site

It will be nice to have more Idahoans here 🙂

The METV is quite easy to get at the Thai consulate in Los Angeles. They have never asked me for proof of finances, or hotel.

You should make a trip to LA and pay them a visit. Or, watch their website for their scheduled visits to places like Las Vegas.

Interesting, it’s in bright red lettering on the embassy website. I’ll have to look for that. I just don’t want to wait too long as we’re hoping to head to Thailand the last week of June

Go penang and get a 60 days tourist visa. Than extend at the immgration for another 30 days. You can get max of 5 in penang. I use jim's place for this visa. They are a agent.
