TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around seeking family health insurance for an expat living in Thailand for six months and the UK for six months. While the original poster requested advice without involving agents, several respondents highlighted the benefits of consulting with experienced insurance agents who can tailor policies to individual needs. Recommendations pointed towards well-established advisors and brokers who have access to multiple providers and nuanced insights into coverage options. Opinions on specific companies like Allianz Ayutthaya were shared, including experiences related to premiums and claims.

I recommend this Broker who helped me though the minefield that is Thai Medical Insurance and was very happy with them including help with the claims I made

I've been happy with Allianz Ayutthaya for the last 4 years, although having not made a claim in the 4 years I've been with them they've still just increased my premium by almost 20% which is somewhat annoying

My company has been providing advice to expats for more than 30 years and we have helped thousands of people and their families secure quality health and life assurance.

We represent only the quality insurance providers that offer good benefits and international cover.

We do not represent the domestic insurance providers as the level of benefits can often significantly fall below what you need in the event of a serious incident or illness.

The common mistake is people buy based on brand or price, but rarely on best advice.

health insurance is about each person's health. Agents are the best to advise. I can advise on one agent if required
Rachel *******
It depends on individual circumstances, and you have to speak to an agent as one insurance that suits you might now suit someone else.

Speak with
@Peter ******
fully qualified financial advisor dealing with health insurance in Thailand and works closely with families.

Has access to all providers, so can compare all and find you the best cover and prices rather than comparing just one or two.

Totally free consultation

Beware of all agents

They tend to sell you the insurance that's pay the best commissions to them

Not necessarily the best for you

@Rodney *******
That can be the case, but a reputable one will want you as a repeat customer or refer others. That won’t happen if you aren’t happy with their service.

absolutely the best in my book!

You ask for no agents but it’s those that can absolutely advise you on the best policy options. What works for Joe Bloggs and his personal circumstances may not be the best option for you. That’s why health insurance agents exist. To advise on your best options. They don’t charge you for their service. They get a commission on the policy you decide on.
