Should I wait to apply for a marriage visa extension after my 90-day reporting period?

Hi Group,

Day 4 of quarantine here in Bangkok and actually enjoying the down time...very relaxing. I returned from Budapest with my Thai wife under the spouse exemption. My original non-m O visa (previously extended by retirement) had run out because of delays in returning. They gave me a new non-m O good for a year with multiple entries. Here’s my question:  Should I just do my 90 day reporting up until near the end of my 12 months and then start the marriage visa extension application process?  Am I missing something here?  Thanks for your help and advice.

1. Were you married in Thailand and do have the marriage certificate?

2. If so, then send a letter to the embassy explaining your situation, send a copy of your passport, her passport, your marriage certificate, a copy of your Covid insurance for $100,000 and proof of ASQ quarantine reservation (which can be changed later).

The decision is made on case to case bases by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and your application is handed by the Thai Embassy in your area. Contact them to get details for your situation

Actually we were told that as of sometime during the first week of July, the local Embassy themselves can make the decision and they no longer had to go through Bangkok.

Welcome back in Thailand, If you got the 1 year valid Multiple Entry Non Immigrant O visa, you got a 90 day of stay on arrival,

With this visa you make every 90 days a border run, Thailand out, other country in/out back into Thailand for a new 90 day period.

You can apply before a period ends for the 1 year Extension of Stay at Immigration Office if you can meet the requirements

A bit curious too. Think the dates he mentions, are the dates on the visa sticker. The dates of the stamp should be around 18-07-2020 to 17-10-2020 I guess indeed.

I can’t imagine border runs are an available option right now. So even with a 1 year visa, you are only limited to 90 days per visit ?
