I just arrived in Thailand, on a, non immigrant O based on marriage, I am hoping to stay in Thailand after the 90 days. Is it possible for me to get a retirement extension? Or do I have to have a marriage extension? I am over 50 and have had 800k in a Thai bank for over 6 months. When is the best time to apply?
Thanks
Ps, I am in quarantine until January 24π

TLDR : Answer Summary
The OP wants to know if they can apply for a retirement extension in Thailand after arriving with a non-immigrant O visa based on marriage. Responses indicate that it is possible to apply for either a retirement extension or a marriage extension, provided the visa does not specify the marriage basis in the remarks section. The OP also has sufficient funds in a Thai bank. It's advised to apply no sooner than 30-45 days before the visa expires, depending on the local immigration office's policies.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
IF that visa has any thai writing on it anything indicating you got it based on marriage to a thai then you can only get an extension based on marriage.
BUT
if the visa sticker itself has no writing or anything (especially in the "remarks" section) you can use it to get any extension you qualify for.
Here's an example of a Non-O issued based on marriage to a thai WITH the notation in thai it was issued based on marriage
Mark R Newman I deleted your comment because I could still see your passport number and other confidential information. However, there is no writing on the visa saying you're married.
Non immi O based on marriage I believe you only need 400K in bank. If theyβre saying you need 800K your visa most likely nothing to do with marriage.
hi, I am legally married in an amphur, I just wanted to know if i can apply for a retirement extension, I have enough money in my bank account to apply for either π
Just a reminder, the Thai immigration government website is
******************************
, however each immigration office is free to set their own policies.

What I understood is that OP wants to apply for extension based on being over 50, not marriage. He just enter Thailand with a visa based on marriage...

Check your used visa sticker.. Your sticker may or may not have the reason of Non-O. At some immigration office, they let you apply for the 1st extension with only the reason written on sticker. .. At least before COVID situation. It's Better to check your sticker then your immigration office.
If nothing related to what your Non-O based on written anywhere in your visa sticker, you would be okay to apply based on being over 50.
it just has non immigrant O, nothing about marriage, so I will try retirement, Thanks π

I believe you can... The basic 90 day non imm O is used to obtain a retirement extension. Just Deposit your 800,000 in a Thai bank account in your name only as soon as possible to start the 2 month Seasoning / aging of the account.
The TM.7 Application for for the Extension Based on Retirement is easy enough. You must make copies of every page of your passport. Have a rental agreement, with copy of the house owner's ID card and Tambian Ban (deed) Plus a map to your house. Bank Records, updated Bank Book. And a Bank letter and bank statement. All have to be very recent (day before) The bank letter basically states that the account is actually yours.
As John says - check with the local Imm. But if renting it is normal to document where you live. When I was on the Non Imm O Extension based on Retirement... I had to do what I described the three times I extended. Actually if you run into this requirement it is not that big a deal. I have never been refused by the landlords for a copy of these documents.
Bottom Line getting your Extension should be easy enough.
Jomtien was just proof of address (tenancy agreement) when I last applied (2018) I will pop in and check, in a couple of weeks, my landlord is pretty good, so if I need anything she will supply itπ
go to your local imm office and get their list. Each one has their own requirements.

> Is it possible for me to get a retirement extension?
You can get EITHER an Extension of Stay based on Retirement OR an Extension of Stay based on Marriage to a Thai Female National.
>When is the best time to apply?
It depends on the immigration office. Some immigration offices allow you to apply NO SOONER than 30 days before your current entry stamp expires, and others let you apply NO SOONER than 45 days.
