I have a 3 month Non-Imm O (marriage) visa. Last year I extended it for one year. This year I want to extend it again. I went to the local immigration office with appropriate paperwork and after 4 hours got the  'under consideration' stamp which expired today. So today I went back to the office and they tell me the paperwork has not come back yet. I asked if I need a new stamp in my passport to reflect this and was told 'no' and that the 'under consideration' stamp is good for one month, despite the date on it. 

Is this correct?

I am concerned that I technically do not have a valid visa now.

Hi James.could I ask what documents did you have to bring to the immigration office? Did you have to bring a power of attorney form from your condo owner? I'm trying to get the documents together but immigration have told me different things from what I thought I had to bring. Cheers.

My wife owns the house so I can't help with questions about condos. We went the week before to check what info was required. They gave us what looked like a standard list. Then they said that 20+ photos of the house (and us) were required. On the day, they wanted a copy of a neighbour's ID (which they hadn't mentioned before). By pure chance, a neighbour was sitting two desks to my left!

Also, we had a visit from an immigration officer a few days after submitting the forms, even though it is my second application for an extension.

Sorry Tod, I deal with samut prakan. I just want a rough idea of what I should bring. I phoned them and got the things together then when I got there they wanted some other things too. Sorry for the confusion

you should say what immigration office you deal with for your extension because different ones want different things. :/

Some smaller Immigration Offices are not allowed to give the 1 year Extension of Stay based on Marriage by themselves. They take the application, stamp you 1 month Under Consideration and send all papers to regional head quarters for the final decision. Some times you also get a house visit during this month to check if you really married and live together.

Same here, last year I went, no papers yet. I just called them to ask if papers arrived to avoid daily visits. Got the Extension 5 days later than the date of Under Consideration stamp.
