TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to cross the Thai-Malaysian border in one day. Traveling from various locations such as Krabi or Koh Pangan, many expats have successfully made the journey within a day. The trip to the border at Satun can take about 14-16 hours round trip. However, it's essential to consider your visa status and ensure you comply with entry regulations, especially regarding passport checks and visa stamps.
Have been shut out of restaurants, but never from a country...hahaha....well done...

Carmen, I live in Samui.
You can cross the border at Satun and get 90 days on your proper visa.
If you need a 30 day stamp they consider your "passport story" (you cannot just finished a tourist visa, you cannot get a 7 day extension, etc) after that they give you 30 day stamp asking a fine of 1,000 baht.
If you need more info just send me a message

From Krabi Town (Muang Krabi) the Malaysian border checkpoint at Thale Ban National Park - Satun Province is about 330 kilometers - one way. We have people in the Ao Nang / Krabi Town drive there - do a border bounce in one day - about a 14-16 hour round trip. Fly to Krabi - I will rent you a car.
