I’m thinking of going to Thailand in February, quarantine for 14 days and then try and get a extended visa so I can stay for 5-6 weeks . I’m a Uk citizen living in US with green card . U think this is possible?

You can do your visa on line for a 60 day visa or get the 30 day + 15 days on a rival. But you will need to go into quarantine for 14 days

not necessarily. Quarantine is to keep something out that is only outside (or some inside but contained). If a state is reached where covid is everywhere here, the benefits of the return of tourism might outweigh the limited benefits of quarantine (i.e. they might scrap it)

Of course, apply for a tourist visa at a Thai embassy in the US. A SETV good for 60 days is $40. A 30 day extension in Thailand is ~$70. Anyone can apply for a SETV, there's no residency requirement, and even if there were, green card is the same a residency in the US.

David No way. With this outbreak going on now, the French lady who tested positive after quarantine, and Thailand not being able to get enough vaccines and them bearly starting humans trials of their own vaccines in May of 2021, there is no way quarantine is reduced or removed. I'd be willing to bet its a thing most if not all of 2021.

unless they fail to contain this new outbreak and it runs riot. Not much point of quarantine if the virus is already everywhere in the country

Huh ..I heard it was going to get shorter .,like 10 days . My mum lives in Thailand...my brother lives in KL....I was wanting to go see them for 5-6 weeks and of course I’d have to do the 14 day quarantine

they been contemplating it for months, but with outbreak in Thailand and reports of this new strain in UK its unlikely, plan 14 if gets shorter its a bonus

this comes up every month and every month it's rejected. With the massive number of cases announced over the weekend (by Thailand's standards anyway) I can't see any way a reduction in quarantine will be approved anytime soon.
