I’ve spent hours trying to research and tried to call the UK Thai embassy multiple times- the phone just rings and rings for hours! 

Travelling to Thailand Solo with my son- we have different surnames, I always carry his birth certificate and never had any issues. Would a consent letter from his father be sufficient or does this need to be notary stamped and legalised through the embassy?

Best to carry a notarised letter signed by the other parent just in case. It doesnt need to be certified by embassy.

I travelled many countries with just me and my son and never got asked once but you are supposed to travel with one
