Just about to extend my Non O visa based on retirement, and I am told I need one years bank Statement. The Bangkok bank can only give me 6months, unless I wait for another week. Anybody know if 6 months is enough?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is inquiring whether a 6-month bank statement is acceptable for extending a Non-O visa based on retirement in Thailand, as their bank can only provide that period without waiting for a longer statement. Several comments clarify that while 6 months might not suffice, immigration requires documentation for 12 months, including a bank letter and possibly regular updates from the bank. Different users provide insights about how to gather the required statements efficiently and emphasize the importance of adhering to immigration regulations.

The reason they started doing this (back in 2019) was that the seasoning of funds for the banked money method changed.
Before you needed the funds in the account for 2 months before the first yearly extension and then for 3 months every year after that
BUT
when they went to the show the funds in the account for 2 months before you applied for the extension, keep it in the account for 3 months after the extension is granted and then the balance can't go below 400K baht the rest of the year, they started asking for a whole year of transaction history.
It was because most people don't update their bank book every time they do a transaction often times all the bank book prints is a summary of Money in/money out since the last update <- THAT is not enough to show that you met the requirements so that's why you need the year detail transaction history print out from the bank.
I tell people that you need THREE things from the bank to apply for an extension using banked money method
1 - standard bank letter (name, account balance on the date the letter is written) <- this can be up to 7 days old in BANGKOK.
2 - year transaction detail print out (there is no date this has to be dated on, just has to be for the previous 12 months)
3 - update your bank book on the date you apply

Okay that's totally NORMAL if you're using banked money method to show that you meet the proof of funds AND it's also totally normal for some Bangkok Banks to not be able to print more than 6 months on demand.
ORDER the year transaction detail print out and go back and get it then go get your extension

In the App K+ from the Kasikorn-Bank I can order statements for the last 12 months, but for 6 months at a time. That means I have to request two statements for 6 months each. That goes very quickly. They come by email.
you do not need to ask the head office. almost any branch can order the 12 months print out and print you the bank letter too.

You don't get to fiddle with anything immigration asks for, you give them exactly what they want, how they want it, and when they want it. There is no wiggle room.

If immigration want 12 months of statements is it possible and be a good idea to get statements every three month and save them for when you go for your extentions.

Gary P Young. That's not a bad idea. I go to online banking on the first day of each month and download/print the statement for the previous month. It's more paperwork than the three monthly statement, but it satisfies the anal immigration office!

You need 12 months for monthly or yearly deposit go to your home branch try there

They need 12 months to ensure the balance was 800k for the three months after your extension and the balance didnโt drop below 400k for the remainder of the year before being topped back up to 800k two months before applying again.

My account is a passbook saving account and they have always accepted just copies of the pages going back 12 months along with the bank letter regarding the ending balance.
In my case the passbook shows every transaction. I donโt use the account and the opening balance plus the posted interest equals the ending balance which agrees with the bank letter.
I know with my Non OA which slightly different, they require a 12 month bank statement and a letter from the bank, plus copies of my passbook pages for the last 12 months.

yep, bkk bank orders them from bkk. should, at this time just be able to print them out. it took about 1 week for mine to arrive.
if they require 12 months, they very likey will not accept only 6.
It needs to run from your extension the previous year. Has to come from head office which takes a few days, but immigration will accept it up to seven days old. Make sure you update your passbook on the day
