Does anyone know how far in advance you can get a re-entry permit for overseas travel whilst already in Thailand on a Marriage visa? I am travelling briefly to Malaysia from Thailand in October and was thinking of getting the re-entry permit now.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can obtain a re-entry permit at any time while on a Marriage visa in Thailand. There is no specific time limit; it can be acquired when you get your visa extension, at the airport when you leave, or at any point in between.
There is no time limit on a re-entry permit. You can get it at the same time you get your extension or on your way out at the airport, or at any time in between.
All the re-entry permit does is keep your current allowed to stay date “alive”.
What happens if, for example, you obtain a re-entry permit and depart Thailand before your 90-day reporting due date?
For instance, if you're on a NON-O year extension and your reporting deadline is September 7th, but you plan to travel abroad a few weeks prior. Do you still need to report? Upon returning, I will remain at the same address in Thailand.
