TLDR : Answer Summary
The user reported being scammed on Facebook Marketplace while attempting to purchase two items, prompting a discussion on various steps to take for reporting the scam. Key advice includes filing a police report at the local station and gathering evidence such as transaction details and chat history. Users also suggested checking Thai scam report websites and contacting the bank to possibly freeze the scammer's account. The conversation highlights the importance of being cautious with online transactions, especially for expats unfamiliar with local practices.
Why people are still willing to transfer money to complete strangers is beyond me. isn't it common knowledge that the internet is full of scammers these days?

Foreigners or Thais. It doesn't matter. Everyone has been scammed on a daily basis. You can call your bank and put a immediate freeze on that person bank account. Its the new Thai Cybercrime law. Just call your Thai bank. And then proceed to the police station with evidence. In that order.
File a police report at your local police station. That is the first step in doing anything, but make sure you have all the details, communications, and money transfer slip copies. The police go by your evidence. They might not do anything because of the small amount involved, but without filing a report nothing will happen. Also, take someone with that is fluent in Thai if you are not.
Happened to me and other friends, must be a fun pastime for certain local people.. the large on line shops (eg. Lazada) are excellent, avoid giving any $$ thatβs not face to face and remember, to Thais all Farangs have a money tree and itβs good to collect the fruit they donβt really need.
it's okay to pay companies like Lazada by credit card or bank transfer when you order. They have a policy that if you are ripped off by a third party vendor who sells through the Lazada platform they will reimburse the money. I know. It's happened to me and Lazada had no hesitation in refunding me.

Good luck with that . Accept the loss and learn from your mistake . I've learnt that I now always pay COD for items on any online shops .
some you can trust though. Like Lazada for instance. I've been using them for years and I always pay upfront when I order and I've never had a problem.
