I have 3 unauthorised payments to Uber.
Card never leaves the office and this is the only transaction.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user alerts others about unauthorized Uber charges appearing on their bank account after purchasing an online visa from Laos, raising concerns about the security of transactions related to such visas. Comments reveal similar experiences from others, suggesting that it may not solely be linked to the Laos visa and might reflect a broader issue with credit card security.
I'm accusing Laos because this is the only transaction I've made with this card. It never leaves the office, never been in an ATM. Never used it in conjunction with a mobile application. Now I ain't no Sherlock Holmes, but this one isn't a difficult one. 🤡

Thank for the warning Nigel. I bought an on-line Tourist E-Visa for Laos at end September. Nothing as yet. I used a debit card. Perhaps would have been smarter to use a credit card!
god knows mate.... could have been Lao or they'r security is shit and and details hacked ... could have been anywhere in the world.

Before escalating to DefCon-1, try disputing the rides in your Uber app. (my experience is that Uber is always quick to cancel/refund for any disputes) Good luck.
I see. That’s good news. I realise you can’t use Uber in Thailand (however the app, if you did have it installed, can still be used for account management).

This is very common and likely nothing to do with your visa from Laos. I also had 3 unauthorised payments from Uber 2 months ago while I was in Turkey. A bit of Googling and you can see this is a worldwide issue with Uber (actually stolen data not Uber). Unfortunately the only solution my bank gave is cancelling the card and refunding the approximately 2000baht they took.
I hear you, where arethey getting the data from? The cards never been in an atm machine, this is the only purchase i've used it on... I got the money back, but I guess it's not financially viable to investigate it
