Good afternoon,

Does anyone know if Chaengwattana immigration accepts 800k in a fixed account for the retirement extension? I coukd withdraw money but i wpuld then loose the interest.

I use the BKK BNK term investment. But on the dasy I visit to renew at CW I go the BKK BNK downstairs to get an up- DATED balance confirmation letter.

Now with that being said

.. Keep in mind in thailand there are TWO types of "fixed/term" deposits and only one type can be used for proof of funds.

One type of fixed deposit you can access the money anytime, although you'll lose interest if you do <- this type you CAN use for proof of funds.

The other type of fixed deposit "locks" the money in the account for the term of the deposit <- this type is you CANNOT use for proof of funds.

Totally okay to use a fixed deposit account.

They know it's that type of account and that the updated bank book will only show the most recent interest paid in transaction. There is no way to update that bank book with today's date.

I update my book (fixed term account) at CW on the morning I renewed my extension of stay. It showed the current date and balance (800K) no interest had been added at that stage. I had opened the account 2> months earlier.

you can go into Bangkok Bank and have your book updated at any time. I was asked by the IO to go to the bank on the day I renewed.

I have fixed BK bank account with 800K in it and used it for my retirement extention this year. It was accepted by Immigration. This was Chiangrai Office.

Strange, I have a BKK account that I have been using for years for my retirement extension in Chiang Mai It's a fixed account account on 1 year interest (1.5% this year). It is possible to withdraw the money at any time and lose the higher interest rate.

I am applying my extension of stay (retirement) with time deposit (1.5% p.a.) since I turned 50 ... now I am 64 years old. Never ever Immigration at CW caused trouble ... even when I applied with another currency than THB (has to be equal to 800 TTHB or more)
