Any South Africans recently went to Cambodia and back to Thailand? I'd like some information because I'm quite confused... I was told I don't need a tourist visa as we have a 30day visa exemption. Does this mean I only apply for the Thai pass and get a visa on arrival?
TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on Thailand visa requirements for South Africans returning from Cambodia. They were informed of a 30-day visa exemption, which does not constitute a visa but allows entry without one. However, the distinction between visa exemption and visa on arrival was discussed, highlighting that a tourist visa can be obtained in Cambodia for a longer stay.
Jean-Pierre Karsten. Looking at the embassy website under tourist visa there is this paragraph referring to "certain countries" although it doesn't name them. Perhaps SA is one of them? We'll have to see if there are any other South Africans having the same problem

Visa exempt isn't a Visa. It means you don't get a Visa. Visa on arrival is different.
What you do depends on how long you plan on being in Thailand when you return. Visa exempt is for 30 days and can be extended for another 30. Or you can apply for a Visa in Cambodia and potentially get more time, for example a 60 day Tourist Visa which can also be extended for another 30 days.
