I am here to ask a question about the TM30; I filed a TM30 form when I first got my Ed visa, I have just extended my visa based on study for another 6 months and I am wondering if I need to again file a TM30 or I just carry on with the normal 90 day report ?

Didn't they charge the rule recently?

You only file a TM30 once for the place you normally stay. No need to file again every time you return there after a short stay elsewhere.

Sadly, different immigration offices implement the rule differently. Kanchanburi requires a TM30 no later than 24 hours after you return.

.... that’s a good question .....especially if you go to stay with a friend or have an overnight stay away from your normal address .

Think about it. If you stay at a friends house over night, and the friend doesn't submit a TM30, and then you return back to your place, how would anyone know? It is technically, by the books, illegal, but don't mention it and it'll be fine.

... I hear where you’re coming from . Common sense needs to prevail . The only concern would be if you stay overnight at a hotel .... they submit a Tm30 on your behalf , you may not even know they’ve done it . Etc etc

A TM30 lets the immigration office know you are currently living. That must be filled out no later than 24 business hours after you stay in a house or hotel.

I completed this when I first got my visa, and haven’t moved apartment since; so the TM30 is to only be done if I move / change address ?

Each immigration office has their own TM30 policy. According to the form, it's used whenever you stay (*NOT MOVE*) at a new place.

For example:

January 10: You arrive in Thailand, and stay at a hotel. The hotel will file a TM30

January 20: You decided to get a long-term rental for an apartment. You (or your landlord) would file a TM30.

February 1: You decided to take a vacation in Phuket. The hotel in Phuket will file a TM30.

February 5: You return back to Bangkok. You (or your landlord) will file another TM30.
