Hello. My work permit is cancelled on July 1 and I will be leaving the country July 2 and returning as a tourist July 13.
1. Do I need to apply for an extension for the 24 hours I am here past my cancellation?
2. What is my best options? Tourist Visa or extension?
Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the implications of their work permit cancellation and their stay in Thailand. They are leaving the country shortly after the cancellation and plan to return as a tourist. Key questions include whether they need to apply for an extension for the 24 hours after their cancellation, and whether a tourist visa or an extension is the better option. Community responses clarify that the user's current status is due to an extension of stay, emphasizing the need to address the cancellation at the immigration office before departing.
then go this week and cancel the work permit, then take the termination paperwork that says you stop work on the 1st to immigrations and cancel the extension and they will stamp you in until that date. Then the extension is cancelled correctly and you can leave the country.
now we figure out you're not on any visa, but instead here on an "extension of stay" stamp that's valid until March 8th 2023 ๐ I can say you need to go to the immigration office with termination paperwork and cancel that extension before you leave the country.

the only reason you MIGHT get away with not cancelling it is if you're never gonna work here again and never gonna try for an extension on a 30 day visa exempt or tourist visa entry. You won't have any issues getting back IN to the country if you don't cancel that extension before you leave (like you should do) but you WILL have problems getting another extension (and certainly getting another Non-B visa if you ever work here again) if you don't cancel the employment extension BEFORE you go
then just leave, and either get a tourist visa from a thai consulate in the country you're going to or come back in to the country on a 30 day visa exempt entry.
If you don't cancel the extension like you're supposed to, you shouldn't have any problems getting a tourist visa from a thai consulate in another country or getting back into the country.
