Hi there just going through the process of applying for a STV visa ( looking to spend 4.5 months over there). If I go to immigration over there will they expect me to have insurance for the full 3 month extension or just for the time I'm in Thailand. Thanks Philip

You need insurance that covers your stay in Thailand. Firstly, you need one covering 90days. When you are applying for an extension with less than 90days insurance, you MIGHT be stamped for a number of days same as your insurance policy.

please report back...as the STV requires the "dual insurance" as was approved on initial issue ...Staysure does not meet it...

Just applied for it but having problems accepting my insurance. I got a letter from Staysure saying it would cover me. Just sent it to the embassy, see what happens. If not I will use the Thai Tune (Luma).

from experience if you're only going to stay one more month they will want to see one month of insurance and will stamp you for one more month, vice 3, on the day you go for the extension

You will enter on a three month STV. This can be extended TWICE in 90 day increments. You will need health insurance to get the 90 day extension of stay based on STV.
