I'm going to be applying for an METV soon at Chicago.  It's a bit of a drive for me so I'm not sure if i will apply in person or mail.  I see on other discussions at other locations that people have to schedule an appointment.  Is this needed in Chicago or can injustice show up with all my paperwork?  Will I get it the same day or will I need to go back another day?

did you even check the thai consulate in Chicago's website?

I ask that because it's pretty clearly spelled out how long it takes if you apply in person and how you apply by mail.

Every consulate or embassy is going to operate differently so please do call them. I would not count on same day service just based on my own experiences.
