Hey guys, i am from Italy and currently in Laos. I haven't been back in Italy in over 2 years as i was living in Australia i am now trying to get back home. I would like to book a flight from Vientiane to Bangkok and then flight to Italy. Do you know if i need a visa just to stay at the airport to wait for my connection flight? I read so many things in internet and it's just crazy. I have contacted the embassy but they have not reply yet.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster from Italy, currently in Laos, inquired about the need for a visa to transit through Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport on their way back to Italy. According to community responses, a visa is not needed for transit through Suvarnabhumi Airport if the connection is made on the same booking, avoiding immigration. If traveling on separate tickets, where luggage needs to be collected, a visa might be required. It is recommended to check with the airline and ensure that the itinerary allows for direct transit without passing through customs.
Check with Airlines. If you need to pick up your luggage at BKK or DMK, you need to enter (through passport control to) Thailand.

if you haven't booked the flights yet, just book with an airline that will check you and the baggage through, regardless of a bit higher price, it is worth as it means less hassles

you could clear your baggage from things you can afford to lose, and make a parcel with the rest, send it to Italy with Laos post

One solution is: fly without checked in baggage. As you can easily - showing your ticket to Italy - proceed in BKK straight to the Transit zone, even with two separate tickets

the visa exempt is called a "visa-less" entry. Italian passport holders will receive a 30-days "admitted stay" stamp in their passport at the Immigration point. You COULD be asked to show the "three proofs" but it is highly unlikely, and in case IF you should be asked, you can show them the ticket out to Italy on the same day.
damn i will have to. As it's separate ticket. ๐

not every airline flies from vientiane to BKK (Suvarnabhumi) , some fly to Don Muang (DMK)

you do not need a visa for Thailand, for a transit through Suvarnabhumi Airport to Italy. You but would need one, if you arrive at Don Muang and needed a transfer to the Suvarnabhumi airport. Just make sure you arrive and fly out of the same airport

ask your airline if they check your baggage through
