asking for friend ... entered by air without visa, 30 days visa excemption, now overstayed for 1 day ... can he go to immigration, pay fine and extend for another 30 days or with overstay is a problem? Thank you

Why o why do people wait until the end date - go early get it sorted . .

Most offices will accept an extension 30days ahead of the expiration date.

you can actually get off the plane and go straight to Chang Wattahna the same day for a 30 day extension...depending on your arrival tome of course

If visa exempt end Saturday (9th) you can go Monday no overstay. If it end Friday (8th) u will pay 3 days overstay because the due date was to go Friday and that's the logic here... most of us have learn this the hard way once!

It's an overstay if u try to leave the country, but for an extension if the last day of ur exemption is Saturday or Sunday u won't get penalized by fine or overstay marking. But if the last day is a Friday and u go Monday the overstay is 3 days and 1.5k baht fine. I experienced both situation.

Pay the fine, the 30 day extention will be minus the day/days he's overstayed. To put it another way will include the day/days he's overstayed

Roll the dice? I guess it is ..... days overstay, sorry. Can you please share the Admitted to Stay date stamped in his passport, so we can give you the correct advice in stead of just mention all kind of days and numbers of fines. Thanks.

On Saturday and Sunday the Immigration Offices are closed, if he go Monday he can apply for the Extension of Stay and the 30 days will be added starting from 9-2 and he will get an overstay stamp but no fines.

Fine might be waived due to office closing date. Normally no problem to get extension.. Still you will get overstay stamp.

One day, - today / yesterday immigration were closed. Go tomorrow (the first next working day) get an extension for 1900, it'll be back dated but you'll clear any 'dangers' of being in overstay.

That shouldn't be a problem - just make sure you go asap (tomorrow) - extn will be back dated but you / your friend will avoid any o/stay hassles.

Should be no fine, no red stamps- just the 1900 fee for extn.
