TLDR : Answer Summary
The E-Visa system for Thailand is now fully operational and available online. However, if you are on the visa exempt list, you do not need a visa to enter Thailand. Many tourists are not required to obtain a visa for entry. Therefore, if you fall under the visa exempt category, you can still enter Thailand on January 3rd without an E-Visa.

The evisa is not new.

The system us now complete for all embassies.

If you are on the visa exempt list you do not require any visa to enter.

MOST tourists do not require a visa to enter Thailand at all.

Evisa has been out for years.

it is new now for many countries.

a handful. Many more have been on it already than are starting now

not for visa free countries. Visa free countries will now have to get an eVisa, but not sure if they have already implemented it.

@Patricia *******
you are wrong. Evisa has absolutely nothing to do with ETA and ETA is postponed indefinitely while they try to figure it out.
