TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among community members is that you cannot transfer a visa or re-entry permit at Bangkok airport; instead, you must carry both the old and new passports while traveling. The visa itself remains attached to the old passport, and any Extensions of Stay or re-entry permits must be formally transferred at an immigration office in Thailand. If you have a valid Extension of Stay and re-entry permit, you will need to visit your local immigration office to complete the transfer process.
And as I'm sure he has a British passport, and appears to work in Singapore, he needs to get the stamps transferred before he travels or lose the visa/extension in his old passport which is no longer valid

Carry both old and new passports. Problem solved until you can get to your local immigration office.
Always nice to give bad advice but at least it clears things up. There is no valid visa to transfer. Your valid Extension of Stay and your re-entry permit must be transferred into your new passport and therefor you have to visit the Immigration Office in your area. You can not do this at the airport.

You just take both passports. If you have an actual visa it won't be transferred but if you have an extension of stay it will be transferred. Either way if you take both passports you shouldn't have a problem
You should have planned better with your new passport if its such a hazzle for you. Nothing wrong with the rules, pretty simple IF you check thinks and now what you have.....VISA and extension of stay is not same think which you didnt know.

you need to go to the place where your stamp (other than entry stamp) was issued. you need to go to immigration office to transfer extension stamp. If you got re-entry permit at airport, you have to have it transferred at airport. immigration office wouldn't do it unless you got re-entry permit at immigration office.
If you already visited Immigration and have a stamp with in the second line Extension of Stay permitted up to ../../.. , you visit your immigration office and get this and the re-entry permit stamp transferred to your new passport The difference between a visa and an Extension of Stay stamp:

no, it is not allowed to tear out a page of one passport and staple it into a new passport or in your case even two pages. If you have a valid visa, the sticker from an Embassy, and you are on the initial 90 days you got on entry using this visa you use both passports to travel

Henry Durrant its not valid when he leaves to Singapore unless he has transferred to new passport. He has extension of stay

Immigration can give you a replacement Re-entry permit in your new passport but I doubt it can be done at the airport. You'll need to use the old passport with the visa in it anyway, so the Re-entry stamp in the old passport is still valid.
