TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquires whether they should extend their work visa first and then their wife's dependent visa or if they can extend both at the same time, as their permits are expiring in early August. A comment suggests that both can apply for extensions together when there are 30 days or less remaining on their current permits.
You both can apply for a new yearly extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current one. Go at the same time. I would have your employer get the documents they need to provide AND help you get your wife's documents in order too.
That way she can get the "piggy back" extension issued at the same time you apply for your extension based on employment :)
