Hi all, I'm waiting to get approved for the 5-year Elite visa.

Question I have, since I'm getting a 1 year entry stamp each time I enter Thailand, would it be possible to do a border run on lets say the last week at the end of the 5th year and get another 1 year stamp which would give me 6 years?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of extending their stay in Thailand by performing a border run just before their Thai Elite Visa expires. Responses indicate that it is possible to receive an additional 1-year entry stamp if the border run occurs just prior to the visa's expiration, despite concerns about the long wait for visa approval and the implications of the visa's expiration on their benefits.

Both my friends were approved in under a month. They said following up may have sped up the process, so a quick email after some weeks might do you some good.

Will do, Thanks!

You also get an extra 6 months free on the visa at the moment so your 5 year visa when issued will have 5 yrs 6 months validity :-)

Interesting. I applied before they announced this and I'm still waiting for approval (should be any day now). Do you think I'd still qualify? I suppose I just need to ask them.

My guess would be that you'd qualify but I can't say for sure. When exactly did you apply?

Hey Dave, where did they mention this date?

Umm, no disrespect intended or implied but aren't you getting the cart before the horse a bit? You haven't even GOTTEN the elite visa yet and you're already worrying about if you can get a 6th year out of it?

Be that as it may;

To answer your question, yes IF you exited/re-entered the country just before the visa itself expired you WOULD get stamped in for a whole new year (giving you 6 years of stay out of a visa that's good for 5 years) BUT all your elite benefits would stop when the visa itself runs out

The guy wants to know what he's getting for his money. It's a decent chunk of money and an extra year is nothing to laugh at. No harm in that.

You really ask if you can do a border run in 2026?

Yes, since I’m buying the visa now I am wondering if I can get a 6th year for the 500,000b by doing a border run in 2026. Hope that make sense to you
