Can I Convert My O-A Visa to O Visa Without Health Insurance Requirements in Thailand?

I entered Thailand earlier this year on my O-A issued in the U.S. I acquired health insurance for the visa which I would do anyway as I have no other insurance from my retirement. CURRENTLY health insurance is not required for non-imm O visa, right? When my first year ends is there a way to "convert" from O-A to O as opposed to extending my O-A? I'm asking as I'd love to disconnect the insurance policy dates from my visa dates. I'll still get insurance. I just would like to remove the "requirement" from my visa. So how might one accomplish this task? Please answer under "normal" circumstances as opposed to under the current amnesty mess. My year does not end until near the end of this year. Thanks.

You can not remove requirements or change visa rules of Thailand.

If you did choose for the Non Immigrant O-A visa you need a health insurance to apply for the visa and for any consecutive application for Extension of Stay.

If you do not like this requirement you have to leave Thailand and apply for another visa.

This did not change due to covid rules,

Thanks! Yes, I know I need to continue insurance if I extend the O-A. And as I said I would have insurance regardless of visa type. I suspected leaving the country, returning on shorter visa of some sort, then extending that visa might be the process. Think I'll still consider that some day but doubt it will be this year as who knows what state borders, etc. will still be in even late this year.
