Can I Convert a METV to a Non-O Married Visa in Thailand?

Hi all, this question must've been asked already but I can't find the answer searching the group...

Is it possible to convert a METV to Non-O Marry inside Thailand in a similar fashion than the retirement Non-O. If it's not possible to do a conversion, just answer me no and discard the rest of my post 😉

If yes, then here are all the details

I am currently permitted to stay in Thailand based on a METV visa (expiry on Dec 25th, last entry on Dec 23rd, normal extension on Feb 20th, family visit extension on March 21st ending on May 20th)

We got married on the 2nd of March and when my visa run to get a Non-O got cancelled, we asked immigration in Koh Samui if I could convert my METV (which ended on December 25th) to a Non-O based on marry and they instead told me to get an extension for visiting family of 60days (current extension)

I believe that I have all the required documents and the funds on a Thai bank account, would it be possible to do a conversion from METV to Non-O Marry or the visa run is absolutely required?

you need at most offices at least 21 days, now lets do some calculation, married on the 2nd, admitted until 21 march is 19 days, not enough.

i would say now you still have time left, visit the immigration and ask again

yes, you need a minimum period of legal stay to get the application approved. So it could be that you did not have enough days left in December and they advised you to take the 60 day Extension of Stay to have the extra time but end of december until 4 April is more then 90 days. Something does not match

I have mixed feelings right now as this makes me really happy and overwhelmed, but I can't believe the visa agencies who told me I needed to do a visa run to get the Non-O and the immigration itself that discarded my proof of funds when we came there to instead offer me an extension of stay rather than the conversion. Maybe they figured I didn't have enough time left on my stamp to do it 😁
