I’m here on a non-o visa and was told I had to wait until 2 weeks prior to expiration to apply for a dependent visa on my husbands OA visa. But I need to travel prior to that. Is it possible to apply for a re-entry permit with my non-o visa without it being forfeited? Many thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about applying for a re-entry permit for their Non-O visa while needing to travel before the dependent visa application timeframe. Community responses confirm that a re-entry permit can be obtained as long as the individual returns before the entry stamp expires, but it will not extend the current visa duration.

Yes but it will only be good for the length of stay you currently have, it won't extend it

As long as you're back before your entry stamp expires with time to apply for your extension, a re-entry permit should be all you need to keep your stamp alive.
